自華僑城將東部工業(yè)區(qū)分階段改造成創(chuàng)意文化園后，總部城區(qū)內(nèi)因區(qū)域轉(zhuǎn)型而遺留的舊工業(yè)廠房已為數(shù)不多，華中電廠舊址的復(fù)興，為后工業(yè)時(shí)代城市發(fā)展探索了價(jià)值演進(jìn)的可能性。
